PIETER WESSELS
COAXLE
Pieter started his career in sales at one of the big insurance groups in South Africa. His early promotion to Strategic Analyst in a Group Strategy Department, helped him gain invaluable experience working with the executive team to develop and execute strategic initiatives.
In the early 2000’s he was appointed General Manager at Hollard Insurance, responsible for the Bank and Motor Division. During his final two years at Hollard, Pieter was instrumental in expanding insurance activities for the group across Africa.
In 2013, Pieter left the corporate world and joined the IDA Group of Companies (WheelsWeb) as Group CEO. Wheelsweb was a small financial services business focused on the South African Retail Motor Industry. After successfully completing the sale of WheelsWeb to Lightstone in 2016, the innovative practices synonymous with Lightstone enticed him to stay where he ran Lightstone Auto up until September 2023.
In September 2023, Pieter was appointed as the Coaxle CEO-designate and was officially appointed to the role in January 2024.
Pieter is married with a daughter, and is a keen mountain biker and golfer.
